Trastevere Rome Map and Tour Meeting Points
Most Trastevere tours do not start in Trastevere. They meet on Tiber Island, in squares across the river, or at a wine bar door in a lane you would never find by chance. Booked the trastevere twilight food tour? Find its square below before the day.
Trastevere on the map
The quarter sits on the west bank of the Tiber, between the river and the Gianicolo hill. Ponte Sisto lands you in Piazza Trilussa at its northern corner, and Tiber Island joins it to the Ghetto on the other bank. Press the button to load the map; nothing is sent to Google until you do.
Trastevere, Rione XIII
00153 Rome, Italy
The map loads from Google only when you press it.
Meeting points on the Trastevere side
If your tour meets in the quarter itself, you only need the square or the street number. Five places cover them all.
Piazza Trilussa
At the foot of Ponte Sisto. The Ghetto walks meet on the steps, and one evening food walk meets at the Trapizzino shop on the square. Look for the guide's sign.
Via della Scala 27a
Essenza Wine Bar, a few minutes' walk from Piazza Trilussa. Both wine tastings meet here, one inside the bar and one ten minutes before the start.
Piazza di San Giovanni della Malva
A small square near Piazza Trilussa, in front of the church. The pasta class guide carries a red bag. Arrive fifteen minutes early.
Via della Lungara 230
The Villa Farnesina gate, a short walk from Piazza Trilussa through Porta Settimiana. The private villa walk meets you here with a name sign.
Via Garibaldi 39 and Via Natale del Grande 15
Two doors, each for a cooking class. On Via Garibaldi you ring the intercom marked Sparla at the green door. On Via Natale del Grande, the guide carries a purple bag.
Meeting points across the river
Many food walks start on the other bank and cross with you. That means your meeting point is in a different rione, so do not type “Trastevere” into your phone and walk.
Tiber Island
The twilight food walk meets at Piazza di San Bartolomeo all'Isola 22, by the monument with the cross. Its own note tells you to use Google Maps, not Apple Maps, which sends people down to the riverbank. The culinary walks with a local meet outside Trattoria Sora Lella, Via di Ponte Quattro Capi 16.
Piazza Farnese
Food walks start here, on the far side of Ponte Sisto. Two of them meet outside the Vynique cafe at no. 106, and the guide waits outside; do not go in. The dinner walk meets by the fountain on the right as you face the palace.
Campo de' Fiori
Two meeting points in one square. One walk meets by the statue of Giordano Bruno in the middle of the square. The other meets at La Carbonara restaurant, no. 23.
Piazza di San Simeone
The street-food walk meets at the fountain. This is a pedestrian square, so a taxi cannot drop you at the door. Ask for Via dei Coronari and walk the last minutes.
Piazza della Repubblica and San Pantaleo
The sidecar rides. The morning and afternoon rides meet at Piazza della Repubblica 41, by the green newspaper kiosk. The 90-minute ride starts at Piazza di San Pantaleo.
The bridges: Sisto, Fabricio and Cestio
Three bridges matter for these tours, and you will probably cross all of them.
Ponte Sisto is the pedestrian bridge from Via dei Pettinari, near Campo de' Fiori and Piazza Farnese, to Piazza Trilussa. It was built between 1473 and 1479 for Pope Sixtus IV. If your food walk starts in Campo de' Fiori, this is almost certainly how you will cross.
Ponte Fabricio joins the Ghetto bank to Tiber Island. It dates from 62 BC and is the oldest Roman bridge still standing in its original form. You cross it if you come to a Tiber Island meeting point from the Ghetto or from Piazza Venezia.
Ponte Cestio takes you from the island onto the Trastevere bank. The bridge you walk over was largely rebuilt between 1880 and 1892. From the island, the twilight walk heads this way into the quarter.
Tram 8, taxis and the ZTL
Tram 8 runs between Piazza Venezia and Casaletto, through the middle of Trastevere along the Viale. It is the easiest way in from the centre. A single BIT ticket costs €1.50 and is valid for 100 minutes on buses, trams and the metro. Validate it when you board.
Trastevere is a limited-traffic zone, but taxis are exempt, so a cab can take you to most meeting points at any hour. The exception is a pedestrian square, such as Piazza di San Simeone across the river. If you are driving a hired car, park outside the ZTL: private cars are barred Monday to Saturday from 6:30 to 10:00, and on Friday and Saturday nights from 21:30 to 3:00.
